Policy

At MAXQ Analytics, we believe in openness, innovation, and reliability. Our commitment to these principles is reflected in our policies, which govern our commercial, financial, and human operations. The policies that spawn from these principles are shared below and follow the open core governance model that has been applied succesfully over the years.

Open Core Governance

We follow the Open Core Governance approach, which encourages us to share internal processes and workflows publicly. This approach ensures that our decision-making processes remain transparent and consistent. Open Core Governance is a hybrid model that balances the advantages of open collaboration with structured corporate decision-making.

By embracing Open Core Governance, we align our business policies with our broader vision: to create a culture of trust, accountability, and shared success. Whether it's in our data modeling, compensation structure, or commercial strategies, transparency is at the heart of everything what we do.

Open Core Companies

Several companies successfully implemented the Open Core Governance model, demonstrating its effectiveness in balancing open collaboration with commercial interests. Two notable examples include:

  1. Red Hat has was founded in 1993 in the USA and built its success on the Open Core model, leveraging open-source technologies like Linux while offering enterprise customers premium support, security enhancements, and additional tools. This strategy enables Red Hat to provide value to both developers and businesses. RedHat was bought by IBM for $34 billion in 2019 and now represents 10% of IBM's revenue.
  2. GitLab was founded in 2011 in the Netherlands and they follow the Open Core model by offering an open-source version of its DevOps platform while also providing a commercial edition with proprietary features and enterprise-grade support. This approach fosters community collaboration while sustaining a profitable business. Gitlab went public in 2021 on the Nasdaq stock exchange and generated $700 million in revenue in 2024.
  3. Elastic was founded in 2012 in the Netherlands. The company behind Elasticsearch, employs the Open Core model by offering an open-source search and analytics engine while providing premium features and managed cloud services under its commercial offerings. This approach allows it to serve a broad developer community while maintaining a sustainable business mode. Elastic went public in 2018 on the Nasdaq stock exchange and generated $1.4 billion in revenues in 2024
